Verse 1
They sold you a poison and swore it a cure, bolted the one door that could’ve kept you here. Brother, the law that was written to save is the same cold hand that dug your grave.
Pre-chorus
I keep your picture in plain sight on the wall, I keep the question that started it all —
Chorus
Why does the same green leaf heal one and bury the other? Why does the state get to choose who’s a patient and who’s a number? There’s a crack where the light breaks through — I went looking for you.
Verse 2
Two thousand years and four continents wide, I’ll trace every road where the sacred had to hide. I’ll start at your grave and I won’t stop there — the war that took you was already old.
(Chorus)
Outro
There’s a crack where the light breaks through… this whole record is for you.
Verse 1
They taught me one window and called it the world, one waking, one watching, one banner unfurled. But the dream has its reasons, the trance has its sight, and I’m done mistaking the day for the light.
Chorus
Sobriety’s just one state among many — one note, not the whole melody. Dreaming and dancing and falling and seeing — let me live polyphonically.
Verse 2
The mystic, the maker, the shaman, the child all wandered the rooms that the rational exiled. So open the others, the doors in the hall — one mind was never the measure of all.
(Chorus)
Bridge
Diaphanous, not disciplined, I’ll let the daylight get thin — there’s a hundred ways to be awake, and I want to live in them.
Verse 1
Before there were churches there were gardens of green, before there were priests there were leaves in between. Our grandmothers’ grandmothers knew where to kneel — not drugs of shame but plants that are real.
Chorus
Plants of knowledge, fire of the mind, older than language, older than time — they called it the theft, they called it the fall — I call it remembering, that’s all.
Verse 2
From Eden’s forbidden, Prometheus’ flame, the gift always came with a sentence of blame. But the seed in the dark doesn’t answer to law, it answers to hunger, it answers to awe.
(Chorus)
Verse 1
There’s a word older than your fear of it — nous, the waking, the watching, the lit. And what moves the spirit, reveals what is true, the Greeks had a name; I’ll give it to you.
Chorus
Free your Nous, let the inner eye open, the mind that knows itself can’t be broken. Become diaphanous, clear as the air — the god isn’t above you, the god is in there.
Verse 2
Sacred medicine — the holy within, not a hole in your head but a window back in. Strip off the ego, the clock, and the cage — read what was written before you could read.
(Chorus)
Outro
The mind that knows itself… the mind that knows itself can’t be broken.
Verse 1
You came in so heavy, you came in so grey, the weight of a world that you carried all day. But there’s a god in your hips you forgot how to free — put your hands in the air and remember to be.
Chorus
The gods dance within you! Let them up, let them out, let them through! Rapture is reason in motion — the gods dance within you.
Verse 2
Joy is a way of knowing you lost, they taxed it and shamed it and named you the cost. But the rhythm remembers what reason forgot — the holiest prayer is the one that you’ve got.
(Chorus)
Bridge
Lift! — pleasure is sacred, Lift! — and never illegal, Lift! — the temple’s your body, the gods dance within you.
Verse 1
No wafer, no waiting, no kneeling alone — this table is open, this body’s a home. The vine knows your name and the night knows your skin, the stranger’s a brother the moment you’re in.
Chorus
Come into communion, no shame at this door — pleasure is sacred, that’s what bodies are for. The god dwells in the medicine, and the medicine dwells in you — come into communion, come on through.
Verse 2
We drank from the same cup, we melted the line that held you as yours and that held me as mine. And nobody’s lesser and nobody’s barred — the only commandment tonight is regard.
(Chorus)
Verse 1
Drop the name they gave you at the edge of the floor, the self is a costume — leave it at the door. Stamp till the thinking goes quiet and true, dance till there’s nothing but rhythm and you.
Chorus
Dance until the god enters you, dance till the I becomes the through, the thyrsus is raised, the vine’s in bloom — dance until the god enters you.
Verse 2
Possession’s a word that they taught you to fear, but something gets holy when nobody’s here. The maenads aren’t mad, they’re just finally free — let the wild thing in you come back to the sea.
(Chorus)
Outro
Enter… enter… enter… the god enters you.
Verse 1
For two thousand years they kept the great secret kept, the initiates wept and the silence was swept into law, into Latin, into ash and decree — but the road to the temple still runs through me.
Chorus
Eleusis is calling, the mysteries wait — older than empire, older than the state. What death cannot teach you, the threshold can show — Eleusis is calling, will you go?
Verse 2
Sophocles knelt there, and Plato, and more, and came back unfrightened of crossing the shore. They saw and stayed silent and lived without dread — the cure for the fear of the country of the dead.
(Chorus)
Verse 1
You wrote me a schedule, you wrote me a list, you painted my sacrament black with your fist. You called it a poison, you called it a sin — the only thing toxic’s the cage I am in.
Chorus
You call it a drug — we call it a sacrament. Sacred, not illegal, this is our covenant. Plants of knowledge, light of the soul — you can’t outlaw the way that I’m whole.
Verse 2
The Native held peyote, the Daime held the vine, and the law called the holy a smuggler’s crime. But freedom of conscience was never your gift — it was ours before your borders and your writ.
(Chorus)
Verse 1
They needed an enemy, picked it with care, a thing in your bloodstream, a state you could wear. Not the man — just the molecule, easy to blame, a war you could lose and still profit the same.
Chorus
This is the war on consciousness, the oldest, the quietest fight — they came for the cup and the vision and us, they came for the source of the light.
Verse 2
Sparta feared wine like it feared the free word, tyranny’s always afraid of the heard. Burn the book, ban the trance, salt the well of the strange — a mind you can’t enter’s a mind you can’t change.
(Chorus)
Bridge
But the war on consciousness ends — the war on consciousness ends — the war on consciousness ends in you.
Verse 1
You can map every road and you can tax every door, you can tell me what’s legal to be hungry for. But there’s one little country you’ll never invade — the place behind my eyes where the thoughts are made.
Chorus
No state rules my mind, no law writes my within — what’s freedom of thought if you govern the engine? My body, my brain, my own to design — no state, no state rules my mind.
Verse 2
Set and setting, not penal codes, not bureaucrats deciding which doors get closed. Dignity means I am sovereign here — or the word doesn’t mean anything, dear.
(Chorus)
Verse 1
It started in a circle, a fire, a song, a medicine older than right and than wrong. And I carried it out through the open door, the prayer in my chest became something more.
Chorus
From the tipi to the open sky, from the vision to the vow — what touched me in the silence, I’m living it out now. This was never only mine — it’s the right that we all can share — from the tipi to the open sky, the freedom’s everywhere.
Verse 2
For the brother I buried, for the law that I break, for the country of the mind and the freedom at stake. I came back from the spirit with one thing to say: the right to your own consciousness — no one takes away.
(Chorus)
Verse 1
I went out a mourner, I came back a flame, I went out with a question, came back with a name. Diaphanous, finally, clear as the air — the thing I went looking for always was there.
Chorus
Touched by spirit, the crack let the light all the way in — touched by spirit, the war’s not out there, it’s within. Free your Nous, let the inner eye see — I was never the cage, I was always the key.
Verse 2
So here’s to the dancers, the dreamers, the high, the holy, the hunted, the ones who ask why. To the brother, the maenad, the leaf, and the vine — the gods dance within you, the gods dance in mine.
Outro
Touched by spirit… sobriety’s just one state among many… the gods dance within you… reloaded.
